Humble warrior question.

I'm having a hard time clasping my hands behind my back and straighten my elbows. Is it better to keep working that until my pecs allow more range of motion or should I just grab a belt and use a wider grip?

Tech support needed!

Hi all,

I recently purchased a lifetime subscription for the app. Unfortunately I haven’t been able to view any of the content behind the paywall since 2nd of May. I have signed in and out and restarted my phone… the screenshot is the error message I get.

I also have received payment reminders to my email.

Any help is much appreciated and have a great day, cheers!

What is one injury or nagging physical issue that you look to heal and improve in your yoga practice?

For me I want to improve my shoulder impingement issues and restore range of motion; having had surgery this a maintenance issue for me. I also want to build stability in one of my ankles that has suffered a severe sprain years ago.

There are mine what are yours?

How could sharing this insight and information help us help others?

I believe discussing this may prove helpful for us to coach ourselves and others.

Level 1 instructorsHello!

I completed my level one instructor training over 2 years ago now and I took a long vacation away from doing yoga for BJJ and interest had dead down at my gym. But I’ve been into wanting to refresh myself and complete the rest of the task to be listed as an official instructor. Has anyone else had this happen? How did you get people interested?

Yesterday, I did quick warmups in our kids and adult class and it seemed like people enjoyed it.

Hello everyone!

I’d like to introduce myself, my name is Tom I am a middle aged out of shape judoka that started yoga after my wife finally got me to attend a class. I have done mostly hatha and yin, I have had a several injuries (arthroscopic reconstruction both knees and one shoulder) in my life and love the adaptability within my own mat space. As for judo and BJJ; I am a perpetual white belt with years of practice (I moved too frequently in the past), I practiced Korean style judo (single hand grips) which is illegal now sadly. I am currently working through the yoga coach program. Thanks everyone! I look forward to this journey!

After the e-mail Sebastian sent out thought I would share my method of staying consistent with my yoga practice , I’m always at my club in birmingham uk an hour before class starts , I have been doing one of Sarah’s 30min classes for so long I know it word for word, it not a hard routine but I have a few physical issues as most of us do after a 20 year stint in BJJ. I also do improvised version after every strength and conditioning class I do , I’m not always on the app but have put a minimum of 30 mins in 7 days a week for at least 3 years now, my body relies on it. I’m 65 years old in August and without yoga I think my injuries would have finished me by now, it just keeps me moving .

I’m in transit to Australia as I’m writing this , we are staying over in Singapore for a couple of nights , I was just in the hotel gym , it was empty so I put my phone up on the TV and after a weights session put Sarah’s video “yoga for those that don’t want to do yoga”, up nice relaxing stretch, 3 Chinese girls came in next thing I know I have a class in progress 😂. After 30 mins and a broken English conversation they said they really enjoyed it. I told them about the site , so Sebastion I’m spreading the word in south east Asia lol . Flying down to Perth tomorrow for a months walkabout , doing 5 major cities before I fly over to Thailand , so who knows there might just be a few followers from Australia by the time I go home .🤙

Getting back to jiujitsu after major injuries

After 3 years, I am getting back to jiujitsu after some pretty serious shoulder and knee injuries (ironically not related to jiujitsu). Before I was injured, I would use Yoga for BJJ as part of my training routine, and got a lot of compliments on my mobility and flexibility when I rolled. Which feels better than “man, you’re strong”. Lol

I’m posting the results of my Mobility Test here for accountability and as hopefully a “before” picture. I’d love to see other peoples initial results as well! Let’s get consistent and get to training!

I've recently restarted the Yoga for BJJ program and have a question about the yoga breath work during the sessions. I'm mimicking Sebastian's exhales to relax into the poses, but I find the respiratory rate very fast.

I'm wondering if there is any need/logic that would suggest that I should aim to copy Sebastian's respiratory rate or if it's okay to breathe at whatever rate feels comfortable for me?
