Still one of my favourite classes. I do it weekly. 😁
Always spend time working the mobility of your ankles, knees, and hips as well as stretch the quads, hams, and calves before class. I find that if I don’t, the knees don’t move as freely. That’s when I feel somewhat worried. Also, tell your partners, “hey, I have shitty knees. Can we take it easy on the leg locks please?”

Hi. I’m 48 years old. I’ve had 8 knee surgeries. 4 on each. ACLs replaced and most meniscus removed. I’ve had shitty knees since 14 years old. I limp around a lot like an old man. That being said, I’ve been training jiu jitsu and Muay Thai for 16 years. Been in the ring/mats multiple times, and just got my brown belt in June. If I can do it, you can do it. Just start slow to build confidence. I only think about my knees when I’m playing footsie now, or if I get stuck in DLR guard.

Are the lives still a thing? Maybe it’s just me, but I haven’t noticed any in a while.

Honestly, I’d love anybody to win other than Gordon Ryan. He’s clearly the best nogi grappler on the planet. I just think he’s a dick. :-)

I am curious. How do you decide what video/program to do on a day to day basis? Do you have any type of methodology when choosing? Do you just sit on your mat and say, “What do I feel like doing today?”

Just trying to be worthy of my new brown belt, and rehabbing an injured shoulder.

I have been trying to do the splits for at least 5 years. Ill try this tomorrow for sure. However, I think I’m one of those people who can’t be flexible or good at Jiu Jitsu (16 years for that). Oh well. Lol
